At least that's what my momma and daddy say. I've been having a little trouble with my back leg so momma called the vet in the hopes that I could have some good meds for my new pain. Well it's never that easy. Since I also suffer from CCD (doggie dementia), I am on a med called selegiline. It seems no other pain med beside the Deramaxx I'm on, plays nice with it.
Momma made the tough decision to take me off the selegiline this morning so that she'll be able to give me Tramadol tomorrow. It has to get all out of my system. I used to be on Tramadol (before I started the selegiline) and I did well on it. Luckily momma still had lots of it on hand so no need to run to the vet to pick some up.
Hopefully my brain will be just fine and I won't get sad and hide. I'll just be happy that I can take something for my new aches and pains. It sucks being a senior sometimes. Every day is new pain, a new med.
We'll see how the next week goes and hopefully I'll be able to come off the pain med and back on the brain med.
You guys know that I try not to post about my medical issues. I just don't think everyone else wants to hear about every ache and pain, pill schedules and potty issues of little old me.
Hopefully I'll have a more fun post to share next time. Later Gator!

Sticky Paws = Big Fat Fail!
My momma wanted to help me not slip and slide on the wood floors. She heard about these stick-on pad called Sticky Paws that go on the bottom of my feet and would help give me traction. Welll.....
They worked as long as they stayed on my feet; which wasn't very long. She followed directions perfectly. She's like that. A week later and they have all fallen off. I promise that I didn't pull them off. Heck, I didn't even know they were there.
Daddy says he might use some rubber cement to stick them back on, but I'm not so sure about that.
Oh well, I guess they will just have to keep picking my butt up off the floor.

Pedicures Suck!
I don't know what momma's talking about when she says that she loves to get a relaxing pedicure. Today momma and daddy decided that my long nails were out of style and that I needed a trim. Momma loaded up a wooden spoon with peanut butter, but I was suspicious.
Sure enough daddy had those awful nail cutters. I HATE to have my nails cut and and will let you know about it if you try. Well I really hate to have the nails on my front paws cut. I don't really even notice when he's working on my back paws.
Long story short, I survived and I got peanut butter. I did scream a little, but nothing compared to my drama queen sister, Lily. You would have thought daddy was cutting off her toes. I think he was only able to trim a few before she just freaked out too much. No photos this time since it takes both momma and daddy to handle the cutting duties.

Armadillo, turtle or just Tillie?
I am so silly! Momma tells me so every day. Tonight when we went outside for potty time, I thought I was being slick and tried to walk away from her. Since momma's required for a successful potty break, she just followed me. Apparently I don't walk very fast. I also am not what you would call graceful.
I was attempting to walk along the curb when one of my back legs slipped and I s-l-o-w-l-y slipped down onto the road rolling on my back. Since I'm sort of built like a sausage, there I was stuck on my back with all 4 legs straight up in the air. I looked just like a dead armadillo on the side of the road.
Since momma was right there, I didn't even try to flip back over. I'm pretty sure I would have looked like a turtle trying to right itself. Lucky for me, momma didn't have her camera ready or I would have been humiliated by photographic evidence.
Instead I'll share a few photos from the other night. That's me wishing I could climb the ramp to rest of the house. Everyone left me down in the living room (okay only for a few minutes, but still.)

I feel good. Nana-nana-nana-na-na!
That is about all the singing you'll get out of me. I'm feeling pretty feisty today. I even ran a little bit in the yard. For some reason, whenever I run my momma laughs at me. I think it just makes her happy. Believe it or not this is an action shot. See how my left leg is up, I'm runnnnning!
I wanted to share with you my favorite place. This tree stands in our front yard and I love to sit beneath it and watch the world go by. I think it is a Japanese Magnolia. I don't know trees, but I know that I really like this one.

I'm coming for ya...
Whenever my momma has the camera, I always come right to her. This is what I call an "action" shot. I just love walking around my yard. Sometimes Lily wants to play with me and I try but I'm not nearly as fast as she is. Okay, I'm not even close to what you would call "fast."
Max likes to get in on the action. Well, really he just likes to chase her and try to show her who's the boss.

Quit following me with that camera!
Try as I may to get away from the camera, momma just kept following me. I like to spend time walking around the yard, sniffing stuff and laying in the sun. I also try not to get run over by Lily. Oh and don't worry about my leg. It's just a little stiff.
Sticky Feet!
Momma ordered some special sticky things to go on my paws so I can get a grip on the slippery floors. I have a hard time getting up once I'm sitting down and I'm hoping these new stickies will help.
Once I get them on we'll see if they work. Stay tuned.

Vet Free for Two Months!
The end of November and the beginning of December were rough for me. I was at the vet's office a lot! There was a lot of poking and squishing of my belly. I know that I needed to go so I didn't even get upset in the car like I used to. I was just a little anxious. Dr. R and the rest of the staff always take such good care of me and helped to get me on the right track. All it took was a little adjustment of my medicines and I've been good as gold.
Sure momma and daddy have to help me do things that other dogs can do on their own but they don't mind and I really appreciate it. I even give them a big tail wiggle when everything goes just right.
The only reason I had the last vet visit was because I had a doggie sitter stay with us and she just needed a little help with me. After that visit, she knew exactly how to take care of me. So it wasn't like a "real" vet visit. No shots, no procedures, just a little squish of my belly and I was out of there. I don't even count it as a visit.
Let's see if I can make it 3 months with no vet visit! Oh and for those who know me, this is my "excited" look. :-)

Rough way to start the day.
Today did not start out very well. First, I had a few "issues" in my sleep. This isn't unusual but I still get embarrassed.
Momma took me out for my morning potty break at o'dark thirty and I hobbled around getting the night's stiffness out of my joints. After business was taken care of momma was ready to go inside. She said it was raining but I didn't care. I wanted to stay out and sniff all the fresh smells of the day. I tried to "run" away from her along the curb. Unfortunately, I'm no Mary Lou Retton so I felt off the curb into a big cold puddle. Luckily, she had a towel waiting at the door and dried me off.
Daddy says I get my exercise by following momma around. I think that may be true because all I do all day is sleep when she is gone. Today, she went from downstairs in the tv room to kitchen and back and forth. I was getting dizzy trying to keep up. I hung out at the top of the three steps and when she headed back into the kitchen I backed my butt right off the stairs and rolled like a tootsie roll. Of course, momma saw it happened and came right over and scooped me up. I'm fine, just a little bruised ego. I guess I'll sleep the rest of the day.

Hello Everybody! I'm Tillie!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tillie. My family sometimes calls me Tillie Pie or Chicken Butt along with a thousand other names which I don't really understand. They think I'm about 15 years old, but no one really knows since I was found as a tiny little stray. I'm part dachshund and part mystery. One of a kind I like to say.
I've have a few medical challenges in my later years but am holding my own. I may be a little slower, but I still enjoy a good snuggle, a warm sunny day and special treats.
I live with a dapple dachshund with a half a blue eye named Max. He's 9 years old and quite the silly boy. He especially likes to stand in front of me and whack me in the face with his tail. I don't really mind, he entertains me with his silliness.
I also share my home with a 2 year old English Pointer mix, Lily Belle. One thing I'll say about Lily is that she is f-a-s-t! I can only remember being as fast as she is now. She likes to jump and play and be wild, but she really takes care of me. She licks me when I'm hurt and tries to be gentle with me even when I'm wanting to play with her.
You'll hear more about them in the days to come. Being the attention hogs they both are, I'm sure they'll take over this blog if I let them.
Toodles for now!
